Roll Conveyor Overview
Slat conveyors are used to transport heavy rolls from a winder to another process such as roll storage. Loading/unloading rolls from the conveyor are done using 'kickers' and ramps. This system is predominantly used as the primary building block of an automated roll handling system and is traditionally used in conjunction with wrapping machines, upenders and other roll handling units.
Belt conveyors are used to transport large rolls either core horizontal or core vertical. This system comes in two versions: light loads with a low friction surface or heavy loads with the belt running on free rollers. When handling rolls core horizontal, the rollers are set to a 'V' position to keep the rolls central on the conveyor.
